Strawberry Apple Pie

I ran out of frozen strawberries when making a pie the other day and the only fruit I had that seemed possible to combine with strawberries was apples. So I did a google search for strawberry apple pie. Lo and behold, (is this and LDSism or do all people say that? I feel like it's not an LDS thing but I'm not sure. Anyhow, on with the story) there were many recipes for strawberry apple pie. I played around with a couple of different recipes for crusts, including one with oil instead of butter or shortening (which was good but not easy to work with) and then the top crust I made with half white flour and half whole wheat pastry flour and butter (SO GOOD! even the usual complainers about the whole wheat didn't complain and did not even notice until I told them!).

Don't have a recipe for you, but the filling is basically 2-3 thinly sliced and peeled apples (I used fuji, sooo good), about 4 cups of frozen strawberries (or fresh), 2/3 cup sugar (you could adjust as you saw fit as well), and a couple of Tbsps of lemon juice. I could not stop picking at this mix before I put it into the pie. The lemon with the strawberry juices on the apples was heaven! Good luck!
