Wow, I didn't know that going grocery shopping could make me so happy. Maybe it was the alone time that my introverted self gave myself which charged me up for the shopping outing which was vastly improved by good & fun music at the store. Maybe it was the fact that I tried making something my pretend cousin Mal taught me and ate it for dinner. First of all, we went to Vancouver, BC and discovered a giant tub (relatively speaking-think of the tiny containers at the store) of thai curry paste for 4 dollars! There's an amazing market in Vancouver that has tons of international products and so many delicious foods to eat and stare at. It's amazing. Truly a trip for all of your senses. Here's what you do, be prepared to be amazed as it makes a lovely and interesting little mixture whilst (new goal to begin using this word, inspired by too much Jane Austen, I won't really do it bc I don't want to be weird, but I'll do it here) it cooks: Mix curry paste (thai) with a bit of coconut milk and cook chicken (cubed/similar) in it=so moist and flavorful! It is magical. Yes, it is. Maybe it's just me, but I had never ever used curry paste like that. (You may all be thinking, that's how we always use curry paste.) I was just so surprised how moist the chicken was. Apparently I'm amazed. Then do whatever you will with it. Turn it into a soup. Turn it into a stir fry. Whatnot. What have you.
So apparently the world/business owners who sell us their products in this country have been reading my blog because there seem to be more passion fruit products at the store since the last time I went. Remember. I said that us USers want more passion fruit products. Yeah, you were there.
Did you know...
That Ben and Jerry's make a pineapple ice cream (it's sorbet I think actually) with passion fruit swirls called Jamaican me crazy which is DE-licious?!!!!! How long has this product existed? Why did I not know about this? My heart is broken. I'm pretty sure, yes, I'm positive, this is the BEST-tasting passion fruit product with a US origin I have ever had. And since it's not ice cream it's not too harsh on the locus of feelings and intuitions or "the ol' ticker", if you will, as regards fat content.
There is a new passion fruit juice which just may be on sale at your local grocer's as it was at mine, although it is passion fruit and aloe (don't think, just drink) and it has less sugar/calories than minute maid passion fruit and was at least 1.50 cheaper.
I could go on and on about all of the delicious edibles I heart, but I'm so tired; alas, I shall save it for another day. Or for never. The latter (eek, I never know if I use that one right, which never fails to make me feel dumb) is more likely.
Is it just me....or do you all love passion fruit too, you do, right? I was talking to one friend and he was like eww passion fruit. I pretty much died. Preposterous. Moms likes to smell my passion fruit foods..."wait, let me smell that," and then she says "gross." Uncalled for. It's too delicious for mankind really. (I'm reminded of how Heather said that papaya tastes and smells like feet, and it does. It really does gang. But, papaya shakes are really good. ) Anyhow, so another friend, I thought was the person who didn't like passion fruit, and I mentioned this to him, and he got this serious look on his face and kind of sternly said: "that was not me." That made me happy. Passion fruit is good and it deserves to be respected as something absurdly delicious. Thank you for respecting passion fruit.
sweet dreams of passion fruit......
